What is Fidescls?

Fidescls (/fee-dhez classify/, from Fidēs, Latin for trust and reliability) is an open-source and extensible machine learning classification engine. Fidescls uses the Fides toolset (Fidesctl, Fidesops, and Fideslang) to assist in detecting and labeling potential sources of personal identifiable information, or PII, in your records and databases.

Use Cases

Fidescls is designed to integrate with your existing systems and databases, and provide an assessment of existing PII via machine learning classification suggestions.

Key Features

Automated PII Identification

Fidescls is a standalone service designed to help automate the complex task of identifying PII in your application. Easily generate a catalogue of your system's databases to determine the locations of possible PII, and receive classification label suggestions based on the contents of your tables and schemas.

Accurately Managed Information Auditing

Analyze your databases with Fidescls' machine learning engine, supported by natural language processing and named entity recognition. Point Fidescls' classifier at your databases, and leverage trained models to produce an audit of your stored PII and sensitive data.

Configurable and Extensible

Fidescls provides data categorization suggestions based on existing PII classfication types, and is easily extensible to meet your platform's individual needs. The built-in data taxonomy is human-readable and customizable, allowing teams to add support for system-specific concepts and data categories, or quickly update classifications for evolving privacy requirements.

Context-Aware Data Detection

Identify possible sources of sensitive information not only by the content of a given field or object, but by your data's surrounding context, incorporating external information and metadata to generate intelligent classifications of your systems.

Fides Ecosystem Integration

Scan a database with Fidescls, and extend your classifications via Fideslang's detailed data categories. Smoothly incorporate your results into a Fidesctl CI pipeline to manage privacy enforcement in your runtime environment, or deploy Fidesops to orchestrate the automatic fulfillment of Fidescls-enhanced privacy requests.
